What is computer science all about?
Available at both GCSE and A-level, not all schools offer it, although most schools will have some form of IT at GCSE level. If you choose to study this at A-level , you will learn all about programming, algorithms, computer systems and data structure, to name a few! You don’t need to have studied it at GCSE level to be able to take it at A-level either, so don’t worry if you discovered your love for it after you had already chosen your GCSE options :)
Technology has made the world more connected and this is down to the many, many people who have a passion for technology and computer systems. With technology changing and progressing every day, computer science is becoming a more and more popular subject at A-level, leading students on to the possibility of studying something related to computing at university. Studying computer science at A-level can lead to a number of options for you at degree-level, such as information systems, computer science and computing, software engineering, artificial intelligence and health informatics. It can also open a number of doors for you further down the line and, if you’re up for the challenge, it can lead to a very rewarding and interesting career; you can go on to work in industries from robotics to teaching, ethical hacking to computer game development!
There is a lot to learn for computing and computer science, but our tutors can support you through the difficult areas of the syllabus and help you to grow in both skills and confidence. As this is quite a hands-on subject, you will be able to learn the theory but also practise any aspects of programming (a whole new language for most students!) whilst you are attending INICIO (online or at our studio).
